When and where it all started....

It was walk down memory lane for me and hubby this weekend to the place and day I first 'said yes'

Took a train Saturday morning from London Kings Cross and reached Durham at about noon (we missed the barbecue organised by the Malaysians here, though).

Checked in at Three Tuns Hotel - a lovely Victorian style hotel. For the price we paid, (i.e. just 5quids more that you would pay for family room in Travelodge) I'm really impressed with the size of the room! Really spacious - a king size bed complete with a small living area.. and it comes with breakfast for two!

For the rest of Saturday, me and hubby tried as much to do the things we use to do before - namely, lunch at my favourite pancake shop, stroll around town, in the woods by the River Wear, lepak at the cathedral compound and dinner at Spice Lounge. We were lucky that there was a Folk Festival going on in the market place. So we spend time in the town centre for quite a bit watching the folk dance competition. And, to my pleasant surprise, we bumped into Ms Usha Kalyani in town! It was really nice to see her again! At night, we manage to catch the 830pm Wall-E show at Gala Durham .

On Sunday, it's meeting the Malaysian family day. Promised Kak Zue to have lunch at her place and also to visit Kak Wan and Aisyah (my previous boss's sister) later on. But Kak Zue and Kak Wan asked me whether I want to go to the carboot sale at Seaham before lunch, I apa lagi.. NAK LA!! Haven't been to any carboot since I came to the UK. In fact the last carboot was with Kak Wan two years ago! (was I that slim before?? )

Got ourselves some super cheap brand new DVDs and books. And our best find was definitely a brand new still-in-box (plastic wrapper/sticker still intact, catridge unopened) HP photo printer (we were already planning to get one) for only 15pounds!! (we later checked on Amazon and found out the printer retails for 165pounds!!) - and yes they are in perfect working condition!

Because the change of plan, we only had lunch close to 4pm. Lunch was a scrumptious spread of rice with gulai lemak ikan masin & nenas, kari ikan, omelette, laksa asam and doughnut tembam prepared by dearest Kak Zuraidah. Ate soo much, bertambah lagi.. And because of that too, tak sempat nak pergi rumah Aisyah. Regardless, Aisyah brought over some delicious curry puffs for me and hubby to have on our journey back. Sedap..

We rushed to the train station close to 7pm, with me being so confident our train back to London was at 730pm when in fact it was clearly stated on the ticket 1910!! Sib baik train delay and sempat. Reached home almost midnight (esoknya pergi kerja mengantuk je).

All in all, it was a nice weekend getaway for both me and hubby. I really loved being in Durham and don't mind going back again. Probably 25 July next year, hubby? *winks*

Thanks Kak Wan & Kak Zue for the makan2, for melayan and drive me and hubby to carboot and train station. Kalau datang London, bagi tau la yea?

The places we went...

The things we did..

The people we met..

chitah: yes2! THAT pancake shop! Elly kata the best pancake and hot choc she ever had! hehehe..

F/Za - blom habis upload lagi tu.. tu yang taruk WIP tu.. smlm ngantuk sgt.. tido dulu.. sambung balik pagi ni.. hehe

Warm Salade Nicoise anyone?

Hmm....
Hubby wants it with rice..
Apple strawberry slush
Well, at least that's the name of the dish in the recipe book!

Today giliran menu sihat.. Despite its canggih name, what it essentially is, is grilled fish with steamed potatoes and veggie cooked with garlic, anchovies, mustard and vinegar (and of course a dash of salt, pepper and lemmon juice)

For drinks it was apple and strawberry slush. I think lepas ni hubby dah expert mix and match fruits to make juice/smoothies/slush

ala, senang je.. strawberrry + apple + air + gula sikit.. Fri 18-Jul-2008 21:12

grilled chicken senang.. i find malaysian food more difficult to prepare compared to western food.. western food ni masak mcm malas2 gitu.. i take longer to cook if i masak nasi n lauk2 sume.. Sat 2-Aug-2008 00:00

I need therapy!

A much needed therapy after a stressful FIRST two weeks at work (mind you, it is not the right time to join a new company when they're in the midst of their half-year end reporting! )

And... when Pink is on sale and most of the shirts are going at half price (and some even less!!), who can resist? (plus I need to stock up more office clothes! -excuses.. excuse...) So, I got myself two shirts for the price of one! Balik rumah konon2 nak sorok from hubby, tapi kantoi jugak, heheh.. takpe ye hubby? cak. cak..

Last week I got one from T M Lewin for also a fraction of the original price. Hmm, now I think I have enough working clothes already.. or do I?

cik mek, itu hari gua tgk kat Swindon outlet GBP 15/piece baju ko tu Tue 15-Jul-2008 21:51

Perjumpaan Rakan2 Majmuk Se-Malaysia...

The Indian - Malay - Chinese connection
Mr & Mrs Rizal

Faith invited us for dinner at her place on Thursday night. Her folks are around until next two weeks.

Again, yours truly had to work late and obviously arrived late la kan? Kesian hubby had to wait for me at Waterloo Station for an hour and also to Sandy yg dah lapar waiting for us.

Mrs Yovan cooked us ghee rice with chicken curry, ikan sambal, spicy fried chicken and mixed veggie (This time cannot take picture of the food, shy2, Faith's parents ada.. ). So yummylicious! We were all stuffed up and had no extra space for desert!

Thanks Faith for the lovely dinner and it was really nice catching up. Should do this more often. Please extend my thanks to your mum too! (and also thanks for using ayam halal! ) Nanti kita jumpa hari kebangsaan ok?

Hei, u guys tak makan dessert after that....apela..........but can't blame anyone as I felt the need to call a forklift after that.....

Alicia Keys in Concert - the o2

Huge turnout, despite being a weekday!
Yo man! I come from Jamaica
Stephen Marley
View all 23 photos...
Me and hubby went to watch Alicia Keys's concert last Tuesday. Yours truly had to work late that day, but still sempat balik cook up a simple dinner and rushed for the concert which starts at 8pm. Luckily The o2 Arena is just 5 mins away from home.

The opening act (opening act tapi lasted for abt an hour!!) was by Stephen Marley singing cool raggae song. It got the crowd well warmed up for the actual performance. Actually, I just got to know that Stephen Marley tu anak Bob Marley! Hehee

Alicia only started performing at 9pm and it was Alicia all the way through till quarter past 11! Despite the fact that the sound system was a bit too loud, she pulled off a great performance, charming the crowd with most of her hit songs. She was lively throughout the whole 2hrs plus, (such stamina she has!).

At about 1030pm the crowd were getting a bit tired, but she cleverly saved the crowd's favourites towards the end of the show. By the time she started singing "No One", she managed to get the crowd back on their feet, termasuk lah yours truly yg turut terkinja2..

All in all it was a great performance by a great artiste. Love it! Nanti kita gi concert lagi ye hubby? Dekat rumah je kan?

Mimie & Sharaf in London...

Nasi lemak for breakfast! :)

Encik-encik
View all 24 photos...
Mimie and Sharaf were here for the weekend. Sharaf's flight back to Malaysia is on Sunday. Finally going back after a month long Europe vacation. Shiok nye jalan2!

They were here since Friday night. I thought there were coming on Saturday. Balik2 kerja je Friday evening, hubby kata Mimie dtg tonight! I was like.. shooott! I got the days all wrong! Rushed off to Argos to get those inflatable beds just half an hour before the shop closes.. hehe

Anyways, Saturday morning it was nasi lemak for breakfast and then off to Portobello market (my first time - so please excuse my ala-tourist pose! kalah org dtg dari Msia) and then to Oxford St for Sharaf's last minute shopping and more office clothes shopping for me!

What we didnt know was, the roads were closed for a Gay Pride Parade! And we sort of got stuck on the other side of the road from where most of the shops were. Boring betul! (there was even a Muslim LGBT support organisation! Apa kebenda lah! Kena laknat lagi ada la!) But still, we managed to do some shopping.. heheh..

To end the day, we had dinner at Nando's Bayswater after a short stop at Msian Hall for solat. Hmm, best.. Lama tak makan Nando's. (Note:Nando's Bayswater halal ok! )

the nasi lemak looks yummyy!! Mon 14-Jul-2008 12:33
