We're off to see the Wizaaarrdd... The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!!
|
|
Me and hubs went to watch the Wizard of Oz musical at Royal Festival Hall, South Bank yesterday. I'm soo loving and really2 enjoyed the show! The songs keeps on playing over and over again in my head. Can't stop singing and jumping along to the songs.
And, after we reach home, I actually watched the movie on YouTube. (There are 11 parts all together, and I spent another close to two hours in front of the PC watching them!) So that's like double dose of Wizard of Oz in one night!!!
The dialog/script in the musical is EXACTLY THE SAME as the one in the movie. So I pretty much can guess what's coming/gonna be said in the movie (minus a few ommitted scenes in the show of course). And the best part was of course the music! So it's like sing-a-long mcm masa budak2 dulu.. I was so hyper, I sang to hubby before going to bed. He had to shush me to sleep!!
Esok pagi nye sambung lagi skipping2 n nyanyi.. Hehehe...
My fav song yg tak berenti2.....
Follow the yellow brick road
(Munchkins)
Follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road
Follow, folllow, follow, follow, follow the yellow-brick road
Follow the yellow-brick, follow the yellow-brick
Follow the yellow-brick road
You're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
You'll find he is a Whiz of a Wiz if ever a Wiz there was
If ever, oh ever, a Wiz there was the Wizard of Oz is one because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things he does
You're off the see the wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz
(Scarecrow)
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain
I'd unravel any riddle
For any individ'le
In trouble or in pain
(Dorothy)
With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain
(Scarecrow)
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I'd sit and think some more
I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
We're off to see the Wizard
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
We hear he is a Whiz of a Wiz
If ever a Wiz there was
If ever, oh ever, a Wiz there was
The Wizard of Oz is one because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things he does
We're off the see the wizard
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Baking Fetish Weekend - Part 1
On Saturday, when hubby was out for a football match @ Emirates Stadium, I was bored sick at home after coming back from badminton, I decided to bake choc chip cookies.
Followed the so-called Neiman-Marcus recipe that has been passed on thru email (with a so-called urban legend -they say- behind the circulation of the recipe)..
Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups butter
4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
2 cups sugar
5 cups blended oatmeal (I used Crunchy Nut cornflakes)
24 oz. chocolate chips
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
Measure oatmeal (or in my case cornflakes) and blend in a blender to a fine powder.
Cream the butter and both sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla, and mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar and nuts.
Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet or drop by teaspoonful onto the cookie sheet.
Bake at 180 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes
I halved the recipe and it makes abt 80-90 pcs
(cookie tips - for crunchier cookies, keep the cookie mix in the freezer and bake the cookies cut and shaped straight from freezer)
However, upon further checking, this is however, not the real Neiman-Marcus choc chip cookie recipe Oh well, maybe I shall attempt the original recipe some other time.
We brought these cookies for movies in the evening (baru nak tgk Dark Knight).. hehe.. So instead of munching pop-corn we munched home-baked cookies!
Baking Fetish Weekend - Part 2
Sunday morning, hubby was out for badminton really early. Yours truly was again left home-alone. Just an hour before leaving for my aerobics class, I decided to make blueberry muffins. I bought these blueberries a few days back, so before they start turning bad, I better make something out of them.
I used the recipe from Martha Stewart for this one (a recipe that is frequently used by my darling sis. This recipe is pretty quick to prepare. It took me less than an hour to make them (and this is including the 30mins baking time!). Highly recommended..
Makes 1 dozen
Blueberry muffins
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for pan
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups fresh blueberries
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Generously butter a standard 12-cup muffin pan and dust with flour, tapping out excess; set aside. (or in my case i just use those muffin case)
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Working over the bowl, toss blueberries in a fine sieve with about 1 1/2 teaspoons flour mixture to lightly coat; set aside the flour mixture and the blueberries. (reason for coating the blueberries with flour is to avoid them from sinking to the bottom of the muffin when baking)
In a seperate bowl beat butter and 1 cup sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. (I don't even have a mixer, pakai wooden spoon je.. penat ok!)
Add eggs, one at a time, beating until combined. Mix in vanilla.
With the mixer on low speed, add reserved flour mixture, beating until just combined. Add milk, beating until just combined. Do not overmix. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the blueberries.
Divide batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups.
If desired, in a small bowl, mix together remaining 1/4 cup sugar and nutmeg. Sprinkle sugar mixture on top of muffin batter.
Bake, rotating pan halfway though, until muffins are golden brown and a cake tester inserted in the center of one muffin comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Transfer pan to a wire rack to cool 10 minutes. Turn muffins on their sides in their cups, and let cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Turns out not-too-bad, fluffy and nice... and hubby loves them too! you can swap the blueberries with other fruits or even choc chip if you want..
Lepas buat muffin gi aerobics! Balik aerobics makan muffin hahaha.! Elok la tu... Mana la badan tak macam muffin!!!

Watched Macbeth.... with a twist.. Although the story line, characters and theme of Macbeth was not change (power hungry, betrayal etc), instead of being set in Scotland during the 1000s as of the original Shakespeare's version's, the setting of this production was changed to during the Nazi's World War One.. So we saw armies on motorbikes instead of horses and king wearing scruffy leather jackets instead of velvety robes! Interesting..
But penat kena berdiri cos the show was a standing open concept play. Lupa nak ambik gambar banyak2.. Ni snap2 time2 teringat je

It was Malaysian week in London last week so me and hubby decided to check it out.
We went to watch a Malay horror movie called Congkak (<-ada wikipedia entry ok!) at Odeon Covent Garden in the afternoon and later lepak at Potter Field's Park where the Malaysian week is held, in the late afternoon before going back Covent Garden for Monty Python Spamalot in the evening.
The movie was so-so. Being the penakut I am, I wasn't really scared (?!) cos I can't really find what was scary about the movie. Cannot relate lah. Enjoyed lepaking at Potters Field but quite dissapointed with the food spread though. Was expecting more. Dah la mmg tgh lapar. Tak sedap sgt and tak banyak choice. Mentang2 la nak bagi mat salleh makan, belasah je masak. Masak sendiri lagi sedap.. Hehehe..
But the highlight of the day was Monty Python Spamalot. Had fun wactching that! Really funny especially with the lead cast being Sanjeev from The Kumars at No.42 as King Arthur (?!) An Indian saying "I am the King of all Britain"?! How ironic! . Recommended for laughs..
